Looking for a relaxing spot to have a staycation in San Diego? Check out The Ranch at Bandy Canyon in the middle of San Pasqual Valley (Escondido Area). You'll love this rustic oasis. My family and I were invited to check out the cabins and enjoy a night stay. We had an awesome time and really enjoyed the unique vibe.
We first headed to Orfila Winery for a wine tasting and afternoon break. Then we picked up a pizza from BJ's Restaurant. Before you go to The Ranch at Bandy Canyon, be sure you bring food. There are currently no restaurants on site; however there is one restaurant that will deliver. We did not want to have to rely on that so we brought our own. The nice staff at the Ranch did give us a welcome basket that included muffins and fruit which we devoured for breakfast.
The wifi is also super choppy. Which is kind of the point about staying at Bandy Canyon. It's a place to relax and recharge. It's not a place to be on the cell phone checking Facebook every 10 minutes. It was nice to not think about work, chores or to-do lists.
Mark had to work the night we went. My brother, niece and grandma stayed with the kiddos and I. My mom also came by for dinner and a dip in the pool. We walked around the grounds and checked out the oldest building in Escondido, their lodge. It's a really nice place for a wedding or event. There is a piano, a fireplace and lots of room to enjoy. We heard they will be transforming the lodge into a restaurant which I think will be great.
The Ranch at Bandy Canyon also has a few horses and pony's at the stables. You can take them out on a trail ride if you schedule it before arrival. We just took a peak and a few photos.
The pool was empty and fabulous. It seems like an awesome place to bring a good group of friends or a few families to enjoy together.
The best part about the Ranch at Bandy Canyon was the private cottages and beautiful scenery. It feels like being in the mountains but in a fun tropical way. This would also be an awesome place for a group of girls to get together for a little retreat. The cottages are all different and are well designed. We all had plenty of space and were very comfortable. I'm looking forward to taking Mark there next time!
