If you have never been to Extraordinary Deserts, you are missing out my friends. It has been a long while since I personally have been. Last weekend, my madre, kiddo and I went to the Little Italy location for brunch and dessert. It was beyond perfection. A meal with my two favorite ladies is always a treat but sharing brunch at Extraordinary Desserts was just extra special. Their food is delicious, the staff is very welcoming and their attention to detail is flawless.
We started off with a round of hot beverages. Madre got her usual: cafe mocha while I tried the dark hot chocolate and the kiddo had the pink hot chocolate. I don't think I have even seen pink hot chocolate on a menu before and since we were splurging I thought my kiddo must try it and she LOVED it. It was topped with flakes of pink and white chocolate, how could she not love that? I also don't think I have had a better hot chocolate than this one. It must have been because it was made with dark chocolate or because it is served with a side of fresh whipped cream. I need one now.
In case you didn't know, Extraordinary Desserts in Little Italy has much more to offer than just desserts and treats. They have a full Sunday brunch along with a menu of savory items to choose from including appetizers, cheese plates, sandwiches, soups and salads. The grilled cheese section had over 5 options itself. I highly recommend the BLT grilled cheese. Next time I'll have to try the mushroom grilled cheese. The BLT paired perfectly with the tomato basil soup.
We also tried the farmers market panini which was very fresh. The cheese and aioli really bring the fresh ingredients together for a tasty combination. It's served with a cranberry pilaf salad which I didn't really care for.
The Napoleon was to die for. Their presentation of desserts is a work of art.
My kiddo requested ice cream so I ordered her a scoop of strawberry. You could taste the fresh strawberry and she gobbled it up.
The chocolate caramel cake was also pretty amazing. I love the swirls on the plate and how they always put edible flowers with little specks of gold on the desserts.
We didn't get a chance to try the mango panna cotta but I am regretting that decision every time I see this photo. It looks so beautiful and tasty. Another brunch date must be in store for us soon!
Oh! Speaking of brunch, they offer a $20 all you can eat display of amazingly beautiful goodness on Sunday's. The tray below was just a part of it.
