When life gets really busy it is so easy as parents to forget about ourselves. Over the last few months my hubby has been working out of town a lot. This has been a much harder adjustment for all of us than I thought it would be. I think I'm finally accepting that this is a new reality and I need to adjust our home life schedules to accommodate the change in life for all of us.
The reality is that I got burnt out. Burnt out on work. Burnt out on parenting. Burnt out on life. I really didn't know what was going on but I wasn't very happy. I was grumpy, tired and felt lost. After a couple weeks of self reflection, I've realized I had lost myself a bit. I was trying really hard to get my work done, take care of the kids, make sure we had groceries and make sure the house was picked up. I realized I had lost all "me time". As a mom, I think it's always the first thing to go when you're life is going through any change.
Since this realization I've found some ways for me to get in a little time for myself and I wanted to share some of these tips with you.
Me Time Tips for Work at Home Moms:
- Get Up Early and create self goals for the day.
As my girl, Xenia would say, #PutItInTheUniverse and make it happen. Positive vibes and personal goals for your day and your life are what will make your life what you want it to be. I love ladies who are trying to help others. I just joined a Facebook group called Take Care of You, an accountability and support group. Find something that works for you and keeps you motivated. - Stay Up Late and reflect on your day away from electronics.
Take a break from social media, TV and computers for an hour before bed and I swear you will sleep better and each day will be easier. - Ask for Help.
Ask your family or friends if they could watch the kids for an hour. They can do it! - Get a Gym Membership with Kids Care.
Staying active gives me more energy and makes long days a little easier. - Hire some help.
A mothers helper, nanny, day care provider or preschool. If you are burning out, you need help. Find it anyway you can. - Take Advantage of Down Time.
If your kids are napping or playing quietly, take a moment to do something for you. Anything you want. I typically get work done during these times but sometimes if I didn't get a chance to wake up early and take a moment for myself, Ill get it in here.
This week I drove the kiddos up to Big Bear so we can visit with the grandparents and explore the area. I can get some extra work in and take a little time for myself too. So far, we are having a great time!
After getting the kids to bed on our first night of arrival in Big Bear, I decided to take a walk. I grabbed my camera and my Ellie girl and we headed out for an evening walk. It was so nice!
All of these flower photos were from around the neighborhood in Big Bear. Some were growing along the streets and some were in yards. I love the bright colors and shapes of the flowers. Taking a fresh breath in the mountain air was fabulous. Yesterday, I got in a bunch of work in the morning then we headed out for some adventuring. We went gold mining, had some pizza and went bowling. Follow along on Instagram for all of our daily adventures.
And, as I've said before, don't forget about you, moms. Xo - Bri

I completely agree! We can't take care of anyone or anything else if we don't take care of ourselves first. <3
