If you’re planning a visit to Newport Beach, you’ve got to check out Newport Dunes! We had a great stay there and even recommend visiting for the day if you’re not staying on property. Newport Dunes is an awesome spot for families to play, relax and enjoy time by the bay. We loved all the water sport activities, the pool, the general store and Moe B’s Munchies for food and drinks.
Booking a Stay at Newport Dunes
There are several options for staying at Newport Dunes. You can bring an RV, Trailer or Motorhome to stay in a camp spot with full hook ups. They have tent camping options and also offer a few types of cabins for rent. They offer nightly rates as well as monthly options for those staying long term. View their site to book a camp spot or reserve a cabin.
We brought our travel trailer and had a spot a couple rows back from the bay. This campground is pricier than staying at a state campground because of all the amenities but totally worth it. It’s similar to staying at a KOA.
Activities at Newport Dunes
Staying right on the bay is already awesome in itself, but Newport Dunes also offers additional fun! They have a playground right on the bay and in the summer, an inflatable water park. They also have a calendar full of activities like family bingo, water aerobics, arts and crafts, and movies on the bay. Check their calendar for a full list of events. They offer water sports and rentals, like paddle boards, peddle boats, kayaks and Duffy boats. Over the summer, they have bands and food trucks come out on holiday weekends.
Food and Drinks at Newport Dunes
Newport Dunes has a general store, as well as Moe B’s Munchies, a beachside bar for cocktails and eats. The general store has everything from milk and eggs to shirts and camping gear. They have a decent selection of snacks, beer, wine and seltzers. Don’t miss the chocolate vanilla swirl soft serve.
The store has souvenir options like tanks, stickers and towels. The bar is right by the bay and the playground, conveniently located for parents of older kids. The restaurant has a couple options for breakfast on the weekends, like burritos and sandwiches. For lunch and dinner they have Hotdogs, burgers, pizza and side dishes. The bay has picnic tables which was perfect for grabbing a pizza for lunch and watching the kids play on the bay.
The Campground
The campground itself holds a lot of spaces. The rates for each spot varies by size and location. The closer to the bay, the larger the spot the size is and the more it will cost. We got a spot on the fourth row back which was a little smaller but still had space for a picnic table, our rug and all of our gear.
The kids had lots of places to ride their bikes and even rented a 4 seater bike.
The campground is also gated and they have security on site. They have lifeguards on duty all day at the pool, the bay and on Paddleboard around the inflatable park.
Bikes for Rent
The 4 seater bikes are for rent for $25/hour at the time of our visit. The kids loved riding these bikes around the campground. The front row is for younger kids. The back row is for the driver and both people can peddle the bike around. It's a fun additional activity for families or kids to enjoy!
His face was too funny before going on the inflatable water park. They were both scared but had a great time. We had an absolute blast staying at Newport Dunes! Let us know in the comments if you have any questions. xo, Bri
