Flower Child just opened in Del Mar. Their slogan is Healthy Food for a Happy World. How great is that? I love it. The restaurant is beautiful inside and out. They are bringing locally sourced, organic fruits + veggies and naturally raised proteins into a fresh new concept. This is like a breath of fresh air. I really wish all restaurants would only serve food that was good for us. They offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. And the food actually tastes amazing. There is flavor to the food and it is not too much. It is just right. I had the pleasure of trying out the restaurant before they opened and I am ready to go back again.
This is the Mother Earth Bowl. It is filled with ancient grains (or sub brown rice), sweet potato, portobello mushroom, avocado, cucumber, broccoli pesto, leafy greens, hemp seed and a red pepper miso vinaigrette. I could eat this for every lunch. It was that good.
The outdoor decor is simple, elegant and fresh. They seem to love art as there are beautiful graphics on the windows and inside the restaurant.
I love the pops of color and different designs. The lighting is bright and it feels very welcoming.
They have seating inside and outside. We ate out on the back patio and enjoyed the fresh air. Flower Child is a "happy causal restaurant" where you order your food at the counter and they bring it out to you when it is ready. The concept is from the same team behind True Food Kitchen, another local favorite of mine.
Their menu has a few categories like salad, bowls, wraps and then there is a section for veggies and grains. You can mix and match sides and each side has a description of why it is good for you. We ordered the Yuzo Brussels Sprouts which are cooked with golden miso, toasted garlic and sprouted almond. On the menu it shows that Yuzo is high in vitamin C which supports softer, radiant skin. Win!
We also tried the Winter Sunshine Salad. This one is filled with arugula, butternut squash, organic apple, clementine, ancient grains, cranberry, goat cheese, sprouted almond and a chia seed vinaigrette. Beyond delicious.
We enjoyed the chocolate chip cookies for dessert.
This place just screams peace, love and happiness. I will be coming here as often as possible. If only there were one down the street! If you are in Del Mar and want to try delicious healthy food - check out Flower Child. You will not regret it. xo - Bri
I received a meal for media consideration. All opinions are my own.
