In celebration of my daughter's 8th Birthday today, I'm sharing all about our favorite spot for cake, Extraordinary Desserts! I recently visited their latest location in Bankers Hill and had a taste of what's new. Their other location is still open in Little Italy and they offer delivery nationwide for their branded line of gourmet products. The thing I love best about Extraordinary Desserts says it all in the name but they also offer savory options for lunch and dinner. Read on for our latest favorites from Extraordinary Desserts!
The black velvet is my absolute new favorite cake! It's made with vanilla bean soaked chocolate cake, layered with cream cheese, mascarpone whipped cream and salted chocolate cocoa nibs. Oh, my, yum! All of their desserts are plated with the most delicious sauces and topped with beautiful edible flowers.
I went in for lunch and started with a refreshing rose lemonade. I wasn't sure if I'd like my lemonade with a hint of rose but it was very light and gave it a unique taste.
Savory Dishes at Extraordinary Desserts
Their savory dishes range from exceptional charcuterie boards to toasted paninis. There are 3 styles of gourmet grilled cheese, several salads and avocado toast options. That tomato soup looked amazing and I really enjoyed the flavors in the smoked salmon panini. It has a miso mayonnaise that pairs really well with the smoked salmon. I'll have to head back to try their artisanal cheese board and a Portugal port.
Extraordinary Dessert Options
You really can't go wrong with any of the dessert options. Pastry Chef, Karen Krasne has created an amazing menu of delectable desserts. The desserts include morning pastries, whole cakes, bread puddings, cobblers, tarts, pies, cookies, candy bars, cupcakes and petite desserts. The chocolate croissant bread pudding is out of this world. They also have an awesome assortment of sorbets and ice cream flavors.
