Ingredients in Lime Bars
If you are looking for something chewy, moist, light and fresh - you have found the right dessert. These simple Lime Bars are just that. The ingredients include:
- Sugar - Granulated Sugar for Making the Batter.
- Butter - I used salted but unsalted will work as well.
- Salt - To balance the flavors
- Eggs - 2 eggs for the batter
- Limes - You can substitute lemons or key limes if you'd prefer
- Flour - I used unbleached flour
- Powdered Sugar - For Dusting on top of the bars after they've cooled.
How to Make these Zesty Dessert Bars
Lime Bars are very easy to make. First, preheat the oven to 350. It is similar to making a cookie, as you'll start by combining the softened butter with the sugar. Then you'll add the eggs one at a time.
Once the eggs have been added, you can add the lime juice and lime zest. Lastly, add the salt and flour for the batter. I used a stand mixer but you can also mix by hand or with an electric mixer. Butter an 8x8 pan and pour the batter into the pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
These bars are super simple and can be garnished in many different ways. I sprinkled on powdered sugar and extra lime zest for the pop of green! Add a few gold coins or shamrocks for more St. Patrick's Day flair.
I hope you enjoy this fun dessert! xo, Bri

No, you don't need to add food coloring but if you'd like the bars to be more green, you can. Add 1 drop of green and a drop of yellow to make the bars more green. You can also add more lime zest.

These look so good! I have never celebrated much on St. Patty's Day. Although now with my little guy, it makes it easier to enjoy! Today, we are putting leprechaun traps throughout the house. Too fun!
