Hi! I'm Bri Grajkowski, welcome to BriGeeski.com!
This is my fav place to share 100's of recipes, travel ideas, things to do in San Diego and life as a mompreneur. BriGeeski was founded in 2011.
Brianne Grajkowski, author of cookbook, Cooking With Kids!
I'm a wife and a mom of two (ages 13 & 9) living in San Diego, California. I love creating fun and easy recipes with my kids.
Our family loves exploring new places, traveling to different destinations, enjoying fab food and having fun. We aim to inspire you to pursue your passions and enjoy all that life has to offer!
How did BriGeeski get started?
I've been creative since I was a kid. I always enjoyed art, music and cooking. My room was covered with my paintings and drawings as a teen. I started cooking with my mom, grandma and aunts when I was young, but didn't get a lot of time in the kitchen till I went to college. I attended college at San Diego State University and majored in Graphic Design and Communications. I worked as an in-house graphic designer and marketer for a biotech company for 4 years.
Freelance Graphic Design and Blogging
I started doing freelance graphic design on the side and had started the blog as a creative outlet prior to getting pregnant with my first kiddo. I wanted a place to share about events going on in San Diego and recipes that I was making at home. I was laid off when my daughter was one month old. It was a blessing in disguise. I launched BriGeeski to offer graphic design services and started the lifestyle blog in 2011. I also began designing invitations for parties and still offer printable invitations on Etsy.
I went to all sorts of fun events and got to bring my kiddo along with me. I learned how to be a mom and start a business at the same time. The restaurants and events I attended gave me inspiration for dishes to create at home.
Junior Golf Marketing
My first and longest design client is my brother's junior golf tour, Future Champions Golf. I've been the creative director for the business for over 13 years. I design logos, manage the website, create all the graphics, images, posters, signage and marketing collateral. I work with sponsors and help out at some of the largest events, like the FCG Callaway World Championship, in Palm Springs hosting over 700 junior golfers from around the world.
A Love of Cooking
My first memory of cooking as a child was making apple pies at my great grandma's house with my mom, aunts and grandma's. I was always interested in cooking and loved learning about ingredients. I started cooking in college but it really wasn't something I loved until I had my own home and a family to feed. When my daughter was born, I wanted to make her healthy food. I created baby food from sweet potatoes and made fresh applesauce. It was then that I started sharing more recipes like this Toddler Approved Spinach Smoothie!
Early Days of Blogging
I tweeted "Heading to dinner with friends at JSix!" or something similar. When we arrived, our table of 6 was greeted with a glass of champagne for each of us. As a 20 something year old, this was one of the most exciting things that could happen. I had no idea that this simple tweet would start a blogging career. I started attending blogger conferences to learn more about the business side of things. I joined all sorts of groups in San Diego like SD Bloggers, TweetUps and attended a lot of food events.
San Diego Moms, Local Events and Brands
I worked with San Diego Mom's Night Out to help create amazing events for mom's in San Diego. We brought together some of the best local brands to create amazing evening events for mom's to unwind.
I starting working with brands like Graco, Bob’s Red Mill, Annie’s Homegrown, Mixbook, Suave, Kia, Rubio’s, Honda, Behr, Hera Hub, Birch Aquarium and Foster Farms on the blog and social media.
I was a contributor for Red Tricycle and Some Day I’ll Learn. I was a judge at a food competition at Catalina Offshore Products with Troy Johnson. I attended local San Diego events and shared all about the restaurants, events and brands I learned about.
Painting, Workshops and Supporting Women
I started a meetup group for moms when my daughter was little and have always enjoyed building a community of likeminded people. Over the years it went to a networking group for moms and then into wellness workshops for women. We hosted events for women to gather together, enjoy good food, paint and connect. I continue to host Paint Parties for groups who want to connect through creativity.
Cooking With Kids
In 2015, we had our second baby, James. I started cooking more with both kids and learned a lot along the way. I decided I wanted to write a cookbook to help parents teach their kids how to cook.
In 2022, I became a published author of Cooking With Kids with Fox Chapel Publishing. This cookbook features fun, easy, approachable recipes to help teach kids how to cook. This book will help parents give kids the basic tools and insight to help them grow in the kitchen. The kids will love the visuals, photographs and step by step guides making cooking a breeze. In 2018, I won Puesto's Next Top Taco contest with my Pickled Pear Carnitas Taco Recipe and they featured the tacos on their menu for one month.
